Redistricting tends to be a heated process and today the House Elections Committee discussed bill 824, Nonpartisan Redistricting Process.  The bill sponsors drew the basis of the bill from Iowa’s redistricting method that has been in place for 30 years, and has yet to lead to a single court case. Using this new system would save a substantial amount of money.  Rep. Blust stated he would rather see a constitutional amendment than a bill. A technical amendment from Rep. Starnes was adopted and the bill itself was given a favorable recommendation.
