Classic Case of Government vs. The Private Sector

Shortly after Osama bin Laden was killed, Disney jumped on “Seal Team 6,” filing for a trademark. It took the U.S. Navy 10 more days to file to trademark “SEAL Team.”  This means a fascinating battle is shaping up over who will get to capitalize on SEAL fever.

Well, for starters, it looks like Disney did it wrong (perhaps on purpose). The US Navy guys are not seals or Seals; they’re SEALs. SEAL is an acronym of SEa, Air, and Land.

Maybe Disney’s going to make a movie about a group of highly-trained aquatic mammals who fight terrorism by hitting balls with their tails and jumping through hoops?
