Under the Dome says Ruffin Poole, who pleaded to a single count of tax evasion as part of the investigation of convicted felon Mike Easley, is scheduled to be sentenced May 4. Poole, known in some circles as “the little governor” for his closeness to the former chief executive, originally faced more than 50 corruption charges. Among the allegations, Poole reportedly turned a fast 30-percent profit on an investment in Cannonsgate, the coastal real estate project that helped land Easley in hot water with the feds. Poole failed to list the transaction on financial disclosure documents.
