The Left and media have been working overtime to find some connection between Jared Loughner, the crazy Arizona shooter, and Sarah Palin and the Tea Party. Try as they might, there is none. The man’s MySpaced, Facebooked and YouTubed comments are those of a crazy man, not a political ideologue.

But, playing the Left’s game, I wonder if Democratic pollster Mark Penn is responsible. His comments about political violence are certainly more incendiary than anything Palin has uttered. He actually wished for a tragedy, like the Oklahoma City bombing, that Democrats would milk for advantage:

President Clinton reconnected with Oklahoma. And the President right now he seems removed. And it wasn’t until that speech that he really clicked with the American people. Obama needs a similar kind of, yeah.

So, a Democratic pollster throws out there in the vitriolic political atmosphere the notion that Democrats need a tragedy similar to Oklahoma. Then, a guy who professes to admire the Communist Manifesto goes on a shooting spree, killing a conservative Democrat and a Bush-appointed federal judge. And, then, a Democratic strategist has this to say:

One veteran Democratic operative, who blames overheated rhetoric for the shooting, said President Barack Obama should carefully but forcefully do what his predecessor did.

“They need to deftly pin this on the tea partiers,” said the Democrat. “Just like the Clinton White House deftly pinned the Oklahoma City bombing on the militia and anti-government people.”

Seems pretty clear to me. Mark Penn and the Democrats are responsible.

UPDATE: Or maybe even Barack Obama?
