Per WCTI via StateFansNation (with emphasis added):

North Carolina defensive back and former Southwest Onslow star Kendric Burney … went before the Honor Court Monday to hear his case regarding the NCAA investigation into academic fraud.

Burney told NewsChannel 12 that if he picks up a class Tuesday morning, he will be allowed to play Saturday at Miami.

His suspension was originally slated for six games, but the NCAA said that could be extended as it looked into the academic part of the investigation. …

I have a few questions regarding this revelation:

  • Under what circumstances would a professor allow a student to join a class in mid-October when the deadline for adding a class without instructor permission was Aug. 30?
  • Would any circumstance include doing such a favor for a student currently being investigated for academic fraud?
  • What kind of crib course is it that a student suspected of academic fraud could complete despite missing half the instructional time?

I don’t need to ask whether such extraordinary allowances would be made for a nonathlete. The answer to that one speaks for itself.
