Two words: Bob Sanders. Can’t really say what kind of coach Ron Meeks might be given he had the luxury of a real game changer in Sanders locking down the middle of the Colts defense. That and one of the loudest buildings in the NFL behind him. And Peyton Manning getting early leads on teams, forcing them to play catch up.

Sanders has battled injuries, but turned up big in the 2006 postseason, especially Super Bowl XLI with an INT and a forced fumble.

Still, Meeks is a change. And change on the defensive side of the ball is what the Panthers very much needed.
