Most people who know me know I love Italian red wines. Recently I tried a wine from Puglia that I hadn’t had before and I really enjoyed it so I went on the www to see what folks are saying about it. Here’s a description I came across. My fist thought was, is this guy kidding!? As it turns out, it’s my second and third thought too.

It’s deep ruby and has a rich bouquet with red berry fruit and some
spice supported by underbrush, bright acidity, and some wet fur, which
might sound odd but complements everything else. On the palate it’s
just as lively, with rich bright cherry fruit supported by brisk
brambly acidity and by brambly tannins that flow into a long clean
bitter finish. Pleasing in a lively, joyous key, and will drink quite
well with succulent grilled or roasted meats.

Yes that’s right–he said the taste was  “supported by wierd underbrush” and “wet fur.” Funny, somehow I missed the fur.
