I recall reading a review of a Stephen King novel in which a political candidate ruined his career by cowering behind a child as guns were being fired. It was surely purely fiction, as even a corrupt lottery can be candy coated in children. Now, it is no surprise that after the Henderson County Commissioners put their heads together to come up with a strategy for marketing the land transfer tax, they decided to wrap it up all pretty in children, too.

I’m supposing I’m missing the syllogism, or doubting the fundamental axiom. I didn’t major in liberal arts. Please help me:

All taxes are for children. A land tax is a tax. Therefore, the land tax is for children.

Children are synonymous with taxes. Land taxes are children. Therefore, land taxes are taxes.

Education is for children. Land taxes are for children. Therefore land taxes are for education.

Am I getting close?
