A new study just released from the Rockefeller Institute says that renewable energy plans could have a devastating effect on land clearing and utilization.

An exerpt: Building enough wind farms, damming adequate number of rivers and
growing sufficient biomass to produce ample kilowatts to make a
difference in meeting global energy demands would involve a huge
invasion of nature, according to Jesse Ausubel, a researcher at the
Rockefeller University in New York.

Legislators have an obligation to look at the potential consequences of their actions.  Billions in new spending, no net reduction in energy utilization and potentially, massive clearing of land.  What are those benefits again?
