Just put both guys in office. Pay them each the full salary and have them work on alternate days and be done with it.

And why not, that’s what the Legislature did with the Speaker last session. If it’s a close race, just whack the laurels in half and let each wear the wreath over one ear.

We’ve gotten used to million-dollar campaigns for thousand-dollar jobs — that’s between the candidate and his donors — but fishing the money out of taxpayers like this for such a pointless exercise simply shouldn’t happen.
