Durham residents are being urged to park their cars and walk to their destinations today to support transportation alternatives.

“Every car that’s off the road, you’re helping air quality, the community and public health in general,” said Alison Carpenter, the city’s bicycle and pedestrian coordinator.

Actually, it is getting old cars off the road by replacing them with newer, cleaner cars that helps air quality.

But anyway, there will be free food and coffee, which commuters in neighborhoods more than five miles from their work (which should be everybody) will appreciate.
