We will probably be hearing a lot of gloom and doom about our energy future this year. I’ll bet that the Democrats call for a Carteresque “energy policy” as a way of garnering votes from greens and voters who have been scared by the crisis-mongering in the press.

In this article Professor Mark Brandly takes issue with the proponents of the “Hubbert’s Peak” thesis that we now face an irreversible decline in energy production that is going to devastate civilization. Brandly argues that we’re much better off relying on the free market than in turning to government for a “solution” to this imaginary problem.
