While awaiting trial in Miami and Chicago on multiple counts of child pornography stemming from the discovery of multiple sex videos, R. Kelly has been named as a recipient of one of the 35th Annual NAACP Image Awards.

Revelations of R. Kelly and child porn are not new, although concern over it is – he was an Olympic and Super Bowl performer.

He settled a civil suit in 1998 by paying $250,000 to a girl who was 15 at the time of several sexual encounters between she and Kelly. A similar suit – underage girl, sex, & Kelly – was settled last April for an undisclosed sum. Another similar suit is pending.

Since the NAACP website does not enlighten the public on exactly what in the world an Image Award represents, does anybody have a clue?
