A blighted area of West Charlotte is about to get a major economic shot in the arm — thanks to the evil corporate entity Wal-Mart and no thanks to the politicians now indulging themselves in corporate socialism in Raleigh.

The Charlotte Observer reports that Wal-Mart will build a 200,000 square-foot supercenter on Wilkinson Boulevard. The company chose the location because it would help them reach “customers we don’t feel we’re serving at this time.” Assuming that Wal-Mart clears various regulatory hurdles (!) the store will starting generating millions of dollars a year in property-tax revenues ? oh, and employ lots of Mecklenburgers selling good, inexpensive products to lots more Mecklenburgers, if you care about that sort of non-governmental stuff.
