As many of you have heard, that bastion of socialistic nuttiness, Seattle, recently voted down a proposal to levy a ten cent tax on specialty coffee drinks. The money would have gone into education. “It’s for the chirrun” as a certain former governor of this state liked to say.

Well, the chirrun won’t be getting that extra money from latte-lovin Seattleites, and it has a letter writer to USA Today fuming (or should I say, steaming?).

Notice that the writer is unable to comprehend that taxpayers already hand over vast amounts of money for the public schools, and it never occurs to her that they might believe that forking over (or, spooning) more money would just be waistful (er, wasteful).
