Now I see why it’s so important to keep the teaching loads of UNC professors low. They’re really busy doing research that is crucial to the country’s future.
As an example, check out this news item about research done by Prof. C.A. Tuggle, who teaches journalism at UNC. I know that you just can’t wait to find out what Tuggle has found out, so I’ll tell you before you go to the story.
Tuggle researched ESPN SportsCenter programs in May and June of 2002. They found (drumroll) DISCRIMINATION. Most of the sports stories were about men’s sports. Tuggle calculates the ratio at 48 to 1. The horror of it all!
