Gabby Morrongiello of the Washington Examiner reports that President Trump’s pen has been active.

President Trump signed a series of bills on Monday to reverse rules and regulations authorized by the previous administration on education, federal land use and fair pay.

The stream of bills reached the Oval Office through the use of the Congressional Review Act, an obscure law passed in 1996 that has only been used once before to repeal agency rules. The law allows Congress to scrap regulations with a simple majority within 60 days of the rule’s implementation.

“Only one time in our history did a president sign a bill to cancel federal regulations,” Trump told a group of governors and federal lawmakers at the White House on Monday.

The president said he will continue to use the CRA to eliminate as many “job killing regulation[s]” as he can find.

Here are the four rules canceled by Trump:

  • “Planning 2.0” — A Bureau of Land Management rule that expanded government’s role in land use decisions.

  • The “Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces” rule — An Obama-era executive order requiring that federal contractors disclose labor law violations and provide employees with information each pay period that allows them to ensure they are being paid what they are due.

  • A pair of Education Department rules related to teacher preparation programs and public school performance under the 2015 Every Student Succeeds Act.
