There is a charitable clinic and women’s resource center in Raleigh that provides the following

  • free physician-quality pregnancy testing
  • free ultrasounds
  • free STD testing
  • free counseling
  • free classes in life skills
  • free post-abortion counseling

Here is how ABC 11, the News & Observer, and WRAL describe such a resource:

‘anti-abortion group’ or ‘anti-abortion center’

This charitable center doesn’t also provide free abortions, you see.

Incidentally, this deliberate mischaracterization is not a media-wide phenomenon. For example, TimeWarner Cable News, Raleigh Public Record, and WNCN all manage to give their readers good descriptions of the clinic.

The misleading, politically charged description made by WRAL, the N&O, and ABC 11 is so misleading, it’d be like describing those outfits as anti-radio groups.
