…..Who shot a would-be robber at Long Jewelers in Winston-Salem on Monday afternoon:
A “person in control” of Long Jewelers shot one of the three masked thieves during the attempted robbery Monday afternoon, police said.
Because the man is not being charged, his identity will not be released by authorities, police said in a statement.
Two of the robbers waved guns and threatened the customers and employees of the business while the third stood guard at the entrance, police said. One of the robbers smashed display cases and began to take jewelry.
The man who fired the shot was in the back of the store and knew that the robbers were armed, police said.
Meanwhile a supposed friend of the deceased would-be robber—Matthew Elliott—says his friend was “a great person who made stupid decision.”
