North Carolina has a major military presence, with installations such as Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune, and state government has focused in recent years on trying to make the Tar Heel State as friendly to veterans as it has been to the military itself.

Ilario Pantano, director of the N.C. Division of Veterans Affairs, outlined efforts to make North Carolina as veteran-friendly as possible during a presentation for the John Locke Foundation’s Shaftesbury Society. In the video clip below, Pantano offered some evidence that the increased attention to veterans services has had an impact.
