Gov. Pat McCrory
Soon your ballot will look a little different when you vote for justices on the N.C. Supreme Court.

Gov. Pat McCrory signed into law a bill that provides for judicial retenttion for Supreme Court justices. After a justice faces a traditional election and serves an eight-year term, the justice will then be able to run for re-election without facing an opponent. Instead, voters will be given the option of voting “For” or “Against” retaining that justice for another eight-year term.

This marks a significant change in the way our state’s top judicial officials are selected.
