Using the School Performance Grades (SPG) released today, I compiled a list of the best schools in the state and included their SPG score in parentheses.

Best School and Best High School: Burke Middle College, Burke (99)

Best Charter School: Raleigh Charter High School, Wake (98)

Best Elementary School: Providence Spring Elementary, Charlotte-Mecklenburg (95)

Best Middle School: Weddington Middle and Marvin Ridge Middle, Union (tied at 92)

District with the most A schools: Charlotte-Mecklenburg had 17 A schools.

Number of charter schools that received an A: 14

Region that had the most A schools: Region 6 (Anson, Cabarrus, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly, Union)

Region that had the fewest A schools: Region 1 (Beaufort, Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Halifax, Hertford, Hyde, Martin, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Pitt, Tyrrell, Washington)
