Today, I saw gas in Raleigh for $1.99 a gallon.  And there was much rejoicing.  I sent an excited text.  I greeted the friend I was meeting for lunch with, “Guess what!”  I felt like I’d just gotten a raise.  Because in effect, I have.  We all have.  And that is good news.

Not only is my gas now cheaper, leaving me with more money in my pocket for everything else, but every product I buy has become cheaper to transport.  It will cost less to put gas in the trucks that bring my apples to Kroger and my shampoo to Target.  The lower gas price stimulates the economy right across the board.  Woohoo!!

It reminded me of the newsletter my colleague, Roy Cordato, wrote last week – Hurray for Lower Gas Prices: or so one would think.  If you missed it, it’s worth reading now.
