As a native of Columbus, Ohio, and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I have noted several times since the Big 10 football championship game that a major difference between the football programs of my hometown team and my alma mater is that The Ohio State University has (at least) three quarterbacks on its roster this year better than any quarterback Carolina has fielded for the past 70 years. Yes, this is an exaggeration, but not much of one.

The newly crowned national champions have the chance to bring back three outstanding, battle-tested quarterbacks for the 2015 season. A colleague circulated a rumor a couple of weeks ago that Braxton Miller, the Heisman trophy candidate who would have played his senior year in 2014 if not for a season-ending injury just before the Buckeyes’ season opener, might be leaving OSU for Duke.

I have another idea. Let’s bring Cardale Jones, the third-string quarterback who started OSU’s last three games, to Chapel Hill. He has a couple more years of football eligibility.

Why does the Cardale to Carolina Campaign make sense? Note this 2012 tweet from Jones: “Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain’t come to play SCHOOL classes are POINTLESS.”

Given UNC’s recent history, Cardale might be a great fit for the Tar Heels.
