• The National Rifle Association is weighing in on U.S. Senate races, launching a $4 million ad buy supporting Republican challengers Thom Tillis, along with Tom Cotton in Arkansas and Cory Gardner in Colorado. The Tillis ad is below.

• The latest ad from incumbent Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan’s camp is a radio spot, purchased on stations targeting African-American listeners, in which two women go after the General Assembly’s record on taxes and education spending.

• Two Republican members of the North Carolina House delegation voted against a resolution authorizing the U.S. to arm Syrian rebels. Rep. Walter Jones (3rd District) opposes military action against the Islamic State entirely. Rep. Mark Meadows (11th) supports the use of force to defeat ISIS, but cited concerns that U.S.-supplied arms might wind up in the hands of terrorists.
