N.C. Senate leaders tout largest proposed teacher pay raise in state history, funding details to follow

State Senate Republicans gathered this morning to unveil their plan to provide what they’re calling the largest teacher pay raise in state history, with the prospect of providing average raises in excess of 11 percent. Teachers would have a choice of earning the additional pay or keeping their same pay level along with tenure.

Senate leader Phil Berger, R-Rockingham, says the plan is fully funded. Details are expected later today when the Senate unveils its budget plan. Click play below to watch Berger’s 20-minute news briefing on the plan.
