The return to ‘crown government’

Americans overthrew a crown government with the successful Revolutionary War in the late 18th century. But George Mason University law professor Frank Buckley argues that we’re returning to a crown government today as the president exercises an increasing amount of power.

Buckley discussed that argument and his new book, The Once and Future King: The Rise of Crown Government in America, during a presentation today to the John Locke Foundation’s Shaftesbury Society. In the video clip below, Buckley discusses one disturbing way in which a presidential system differs from a parliamentary system.
