“To deceive for the sake of the task”

Economics professor Sandy Ikeda incorporates those words of Jane Jacobs, pertaining to what happens as government grows beyond its proper functions, in his latest Freeman piece. The point both are getting at is how government officials are driven to deceive the people as the megastate interferes more and more in their affairs.Deception is necessary to preserve the great fiction that the government is “their” and exists to help them.
