Ilya Shapiro writes on Cato@Liberty about the oral arguments today on the Hobby Lobby case. He thinks that the government will lose, perhaps 6-3.

Hobby Lobby is not a threat to the core of Obamacare, just one of its many, many mandates. What is at stake is principle — can the federal government force people to act in ways contrary to their religious convictions? Shapiro writes, “the more the government expands and takes over areas properly left to civil society, the more clashes of conscience will result. Today it’s religious belief, tomorrow something else, but all these liberty-destroying mandates come with the collectivized territory.”

Well said!
