Yesterday afternoon, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) unleashed the most updated Obamacare exchange enrollment numbers. The federal health law’s insurance exchanges offer federally qualified health plans to individual market policyholders.  If uninsured individuals don’t purchase health insurance by March 31, they will be hit with a tax of $95 or 1% of income, whichever is greater.

But hey –  with the not-so-surprising reoccurring pattern of Obamacare delays, the open enrollment date will probably be extended in some shape or form if the administration fails to meet their goal of 7 million enrollees by March 2014.

To date, an estimated 3.3 million Americans have enrolled in private Obamacare plans.

The breakdown for North Carolina:

  • 25%  ages 18-34
  • 30% ages 55-64
  • 72%  selected a silver plan
  • 90% qualify for a premium assistance subsidy
