The results are in.  Today, the Department of Health and Human Services released an updated report on the number of individuals signing up for health coverage on the Obamacare exchanges.  The national enrollment period began on October 1 and ends on March 31, 2014.

Nationwide, 364,682 individuals were able to cross the application process finish line.  What this really means is that the number of sign-ups are increasing at snail‘s pace.   At this point in time, the Obama administration’s goal of having 7 million exchange consumers by next March does not seem to be reachable.

Within the first two months of the enrollment window, a total of 8,970 North Carolinians have either selected an exchange plan or paid their first month’s health insurance premium.  Just last month, only 1,662 residents were able to do so.  Meanwhile, 10,000 applicants have been deemed eligible for Medicaid.
