I would add this point: the minimum wage encourages the pernicious belief that worker raises can and should come from political action (that is, coercion) rather than through individual efforts and the market’s voluntary process. That suits perfectly the program of statists who want the mass of the people to look to the government for the fulfillment of their wants, rather than to themselves. The minimum wage fuels the idea that people are entitled to raises, rather than the idea that they must be earned.
