Making sense of North Carolina’s rising public school graduation rate

Advocates for North Carolina’s public schools have boasted about the state’s graduation rate topping 80 percent for the first time in 2011-12.

But Terry Stoops says there’s more to that number than meets the eye. Stoops discussed the “high school graduation dilemma” during a presentation today to the John Locke Foundation’s Shaftesbury Society. In the video clip below, Stoops offers his theory about a major factor driving North Carolina’s public school graduation rate improvement.
