Latest dispatches from the campaign trail, July 26, 2012

• The latest Civitas Poll gives Pat McCrory a 10-point lead over Walter Dalton in the governor’s race, with Barbara Howe a distant third.

 

• The Dalton campaign starts a group, Educators for Dalton, that is dominated by leaders of the teachers union.

 

• Via Twitter, Jonathan Kappler of the NC FreeEnterprise Foundation reports that North Carolina consistently has remained a prime target for political advertising by the presidential campaigns and the groups supporting them. This week, Greenville-New Bern and Charlotte are in the top 10 nationally (last item).

 

• The Charlotte Observer reports that several business owners appeared at events hosted by the Romney campaign to take issue with President Obama’s “you didn’t build it” assertion.
