• Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton said he told Gov. Bev Perdue he would veto the General Assembly’s General Fund budget if given the chance; Pat McCrory says he would sign it.

 

• Liberal good-government groups chide the Republican leadership in the General Assembly for failing to provide money in the budget that would help pay for maintenance of election equipment.

 

• Jim Pendergraph, contending for the 9th Congressional District, hits rival Robert Pittinger over claims that Pendergraph is not a loyal Republican.

 

• Several Republicans who have supported 7th District Democratic U.S. Rep. Mike McIntyre in the past have restarted “Republicans for McIntyre” to back the congressman’s re-election bid.

 

• The Obama campaign is running an ad in North Carolina touting a bill he signed in 2009 intended to equalize pay between women and men.
