In a statement today, U.S. Rep. Renee Ellmers, Republican of N.C.’s 2nd Congressional District, praised the Susan G. Komen Foundation for cutting its financial ties to the abortion-provider Planned Parenthood:

This decision shows [Komen’s] dedication to important and meaningful healthcare initiatives and speaks volumes for the lack of productive services coming out of Planned Parenthood. I hope other contributors, particularly the U.S. government, follow the Komen Foundation’s example and end taxpayer funding for organizations that defile the sanctity of life.

Komen gave money to Planned Parenthood for breast cancer screenings, but as others have pointed out, the money is fungible. In other words, receiving money for breast cancer screenings allows Planned Parenthood to free up other funds for abortion.
