The N.C. Utilities Commission hears arguments this morning for and against Pantego Wind Energy, a proposed 11-thousand-acre wind energy project off the Beaufort County coast.

As the commission prepares to hear arguments, an expert panel assembled by the John Locke Foundation is highlighting the problems associated with wind energy during a pair of workshops. More than 100 people — including banner-carrying protesters — packed a UNC-Wilmington meeting room last night for the first event.

We’ll post highlight clips from the three featured presenters in another blog entry later this morning.

Meanwhile, people in the Morehead City area can participate today’s second workshop at 7 p.m. at Carteret Community College.
