The City of Asheville has been negotiating with occupants. They are throwing around the idea of letting them occupe under the Lexington Avenue Bridge, where there is a mural for which the city contracted and a parallel graffiti mural. Free water and electricity are available at this location, but the city intends to charge a $25 permit fee, which the occupants intend to pay in pennies.

I heard a blurb on the radio this morning about the Wall Street occupants. The announcer observed that the owner of the park had rights, too.

One twit on the occupants’ web page stated of the movement:

Noah Byrd: This is what happens when hippies and stoners try to organize a political movement. Just throwing ideas at a wall to see what sticks.

I would add that in my experience, nobody even noticed when an idea was trying to stick to the wall.
