On Saturday, head to Ballantyne Village in Charlotte for the second annual Lite Up Charlotte 2011 and celebrate one of man’s greatest inventions – cigars.  You’ll also support a good cause!

The 2011 event will benefit the Beds for Kids Charlotte Furniture Bank.   The mission of Beds for Kids is to provide a bed and essential furniture to every child and family in need in the Charlotte area.   It is a prime example of how the cigar industry comes together and gives back to the community.

I usually do not mix business with pleasure, but representatives from Cigar Rights of America will be at the event to provide information on cigar-related legislation, particularly H.R. 1639: Traditional Cigar Manufacturing and Small Business Jobs Preservation Act.  This legislation is a response to U.S. Food & Drug Administration bureaucrats who want to place significant regulatory (job killing) burdens on the cigar industry.
