Months ago I made the following observation of how Obama introduces socialist programs in his speeches:

first by referencing the ideals of the Founders, then after having imitated the soaring rhetoric of past American luminaries, changing the focus to make it sound as if the next step for American liberty is to become a socialized nanny state.

Today I read this:

President-elect Barack Obama is calling on Americans to live up to the courage and sacrifice of the country’s founders as they strive to redeem the promise of freedom. …

Obama said the American Revolution “was – and remains – an ongoing struggle in the hearts and minds of the people to live up to our freedom.”

Preparing to board a train for his ride to the nation’s capital, Obama said that “what’s required is a new declaration of independence – from ideology and small thinking.”

Look out. And be prepared to defend the original Declaration; e.g., We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness …
