The roof of the Asheville Civic Center leaks. The paint inside is icky. The chairs are too small for today’s people, some shows can’t maneuver backstage, equipment is dated, some utilities rely on 1950s technology. The Civic Center Commission published a white paper some time ago enumerating the problems. City Council’s response is to propose commissioning a $302,290 study to explore the feasibility of putting a green roof on the Civic Center. ‘Nuff said.
