As I explain over at EnvironmentNC.com, the NC House is considering SB 3, the “renewable energy” bill.  In reality the bill is actually fairly simple.  It is:

– A massive tax increase of up to $3.6 billion over the next 12
years–and that is just a partial cost estimate of the bill–it likely
will be much greater!  This number comes from the Utilities
Commission.

– The poster child for big government—it presumes that
the public has to be taxed so that it does the right thing when it
comes to electricity usage.  In fact, legislators at a recent
hearing on the bill discussed how the public has to be forced into
“conserving” electricity.

Legislators apparently think that nobody will pay attention to the
fact that this is a big government/big tax bill.  It is ironic,
yet not surprising, that while legislators keep talking about getting
rid of taxes, they are about to impose a massive new tax on the public.
